This football season, I am totally working overtime to up my snack game. My boys like to eat! And what better game day snack then some crispy wings - they're the best. These Air Fryer Raspberry Orange Chicken Wings come out crispy, yet sticky with a raspberry-orange glaze. The chicken stays juicy and was seasoned perfectly, almost falling right off the bone. Those fresh chives, the orange zest, and the cayenne pepper dusted over the top was the perfect flavor pop to finish them off. Instructions
To prepare the ingredients:
To get started on this recipe, first wash and dry your fruits and veggies and get your mise en place all set up.
Next, split the chicken wings at the joint, cutting them into flats and drumettes.
Pat them very dry with paper toweling, then move to a large mixing bowl.
Add all of the spices, the baking powder, and the oil for the wings to the bowl, then toss with your hands to combine.
Once the wings are thoroughly coated, preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 5 minutes.
Air fry the wings for a 20-22 minutes, working in batches, and using a tong to flip halfway through.
In the meantime, preheat the oven to 200°F and line a large baking sheet with foil.
Top with a baking rack, then once the first batch of wings are done, move those to the oven to keep warm while you air fry the second batch.
Grease the air fryer basket between batches - this prevents our crispy skin from sticking and peeling off.
To make the raspberry orange glaze:
In a saucepan over medium heat, add the raspberries, the jalapeño, garlic, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, orange juice and zest, Dijon mustard, red pepper flakes, cayenne, water, cornstarch, and butter.
Bring to a simmer, whisking occasionally, and simmering for 10-12 minutes until the glaze has become slightly thicker and sticky.
Push some of those raspberries with the back of a spoon to thicken the glaze even more, then remove from heat.
To make the air fryer raspberry orange chicken wings:
Add all of the air fried chicken wings to a large mixing bowl, then to top with the glaze.
Use a tong to toss the wings thoroughly, grease the air fryer basket again, then fry at 360℉ for 2-3 minutes more, working in batches.
This helps the glaze stick to the wings, it sets everything and thickens it too!
To serve:
Top the raspberry orange wings with fresh chives, orange zest, freshly cracked black pepper, and a dusting of cayenne pepper if you want additional spice. Enjoy!
