BBQ Ribs

BBQ ribs on a black plate with a side of mac and cheese

Last updated on December 24th, 2025

BBQ Ribs are the best! The messy hands, the smokey flavor! I knew my family loved it when everybody was silent at the dinner table, sleeves rolled up, barbeque sauce all over our faces! YUM! Sometimes the weather is cold and all you can really do is make your ribs in the oven! These turned out absolutely amazing anyway! The key is to cook them low and slow and brush them with the sauce really well! That juicy meat and the crispy edges, incredible!

Did you know?

Ribs were once considered a throwaway cut! Before ribs became “trendy,” they were considered tough, cheap, and typically discarded or given away to laborers! What a shame, right?! Ribs really started to pop off when pitmasters started smoking and slow cooking them!

What ingredients do I need for the Ribs?

How do I make BBQ Ribs in the oven?

Preheat oven to 350, make sure center rack is in the middle.
Add all spices to a small bowl. Mix well and rub liberally on both sides of ribs.

Let ribs sit out at room temperature for about 20 minutes, soaking in those flavors.

Wrap ribs in aluminum foil and place on baking sheet. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just make sure there are no exposed ribs!

Bake for 2 1/2 hours, until tender. I checked mine after 2 hours, just to be safe.
Remove ribs from oven, discard foil, brush barbecue sauce on both sides of ribs. Don’t be shy!

Bake for additional 25 minutes. You’ll know they’re done when the sauce darkens. You’ll want to make sure they temp out at around 190 F – 200 F to be SUPER tender!

Let ribs rest for 10 minutes or so, then slice how you like. We cut ours into individual ribs. Serve BBQ Ribs with mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, potato salad, whatever you want!
