Last updated on March 26th, 2026

Chicken and pasta are best friends! This creamy mustard chicken and pasta is easy to make and it’s bursting with flavor! It’s something different – not quite alfredo, not quite mac and cheese – but somewhere in between the two! This recipe is perfect for a busy weeknight when you’ve got some chicken breast on hand and all you need is a lovely sauce to go with it! My boys loved this recipe!

How do mustard and chicken go together?

Mustard is sharp and acidic which cuts through the richness of the chicken and the creamy sauce in this dish! The mustard is also almost wine-like, which really elevates all of these flavors together! You get a little bit of each flavor, which was really nice!

What do I need to make this?

For the chicken:

Chicken Breasts
Garlic Powder
Black Pepper
Salt

For the creamy mustard chicken and pasta:

Rotini
Garlic
Chicken Broth
Half and Half
Cream Cheese
Butter
Olive Oil
Salt
Black Pepper
Garlic Powder
Italian Seasoning
Ground Mustard
Red Pepper Flakes

For serving:

Parsley

How do I make it?

To prep the ingredients:

Get out a large pot of salty water and start boiling the pasta to package instructions. Mince the garlic and parsley, now let’s get the chicken prepped!

To prep the chicken:

Cut the fat off of the chicken, then cut it into tenders. Add the spices for the chicken to a small bowl, then whisk to combine. Pat the chicken dry and rub the spices all over on both sides. Now let’s cook it!

Tips:

  • You can use any type of pasta you want in this recipe; it doesn’t really matter! If you use a longer pasta, make sure to use a bit less – this gives a proper ratio.
  • To help cream this back up when reheating, just add a splash of milk or cream to it!
  • If you don’t have ground mustard, you could add a tablespoon of Dijon Mustard into the sauce when you add the cream cheese! This will bring depth and flavor!
