I love making all types of salads, especially once the weather gets warm. Tuna salad is a favorite at our house and there’s so many ways to enjoy it! It also takes no time at all to whip up a batch! You could have it on some delicious bread, you could eat it with crackers, you could make it into a melt, a wrap – I mean there’s lots of opportunity! This Creamy Tuna Salad was so yummy served on bread with a juicy tomato and some fresh hydroponic lettuce! We all had it for dinner and then I had one for breakfast the next day because I was craving it again, YUM!

Where was tuna salad born?

Tuna was a staple for Romans and Greeks! It was a regular part of their diet! Early on, they would boil tuna, and add vinegar, honey, and herbs. From there, tuna salad became popular across Europe, and especially among the upper class. And by the time it became popular in America due to the convenience of canned tuna, Americans had started adding celery and mayo to the mix – to make the perfect lunchbox sammy!

It’s so wild how times change! Tuna used to be a delicacy, signifying wealth. Now, it’s a very budget friendly ingredient for many families around the world!
