I love salad so much and so does my family! We love Caesar the most! This Bacon Caesar Salad was loaded up with all the good stuff and it even features a homemade Caesar dressing! My husband didn’t know there were anchovies in it, which was super funny, I mean it’s not something a lot of people think about when they have Caesar dressing! A big ole salad can totally be the star of the show, it’s just important to get some protein and carbs in there which this salad absolutely offers! It’s got all you need for a balanced meal! Perfect for this beautiful warm weather we have!

What makes something a Caesar salad?

A caesar salad is defined by a few specific ingredients! Those are romaine lettuce, caesar dressing, parmesan cheese, and croutons! There usually isn’t any tomato, onion, or any additional veggies! So, while this version isn’t really authentic Italian, it’s kind of my own spin on the traditional favorite!

Where did the caesar salad originate?

The original caesar salad was created by a man named Caesar Cardini, who was running low on ingredients in the commercial kitchen of his restaurant! He randomly whipped this up as a way to improvise for a guest in his dining room, and that’s when it all started! That explains why there aren’t many ingredients in the OG recipe! Pretty interesting! Caesar salad is still a favorite to this day for many, including me!

What ingredients do I need to make this?

Bacon
Romaine Lettuce
Tomatoes
Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Red Onion
Caesar Salad Dressing – store-bought or see my recipe for homemade!
Croutons

How do I make it?

Cook your bacon until crispy and set aside to cool, then crumble. Wash and prep the veggies! Then, in a large bowl assemble the salad. Romaine on the bottom, then line out all the ingredients on the top of the lettuce or mix it up – whatever you want!

Serve Bacon Caesar salad with chilled homemade Caesar dressing or store-bought and croutons, if desired! Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Skip the bacon if you want more of a traditional Caesar vibe
  • Swap out the cheese for parmesan, white cheddar, gouda – whatever you’ve got!
  • You can also use yellow onion if you don’t have red!
