I love a fresh, flavorful wrap! This Veggie Wrap with Basil Tzatziki was super easy to make and PACKED with flavor! I didn’t even realize I was making a Tzatziki until I tried it and was like…hmm I recognize this flavor! I wish I could’ve bottled up that sauce, it was TOO good! These wraps were garlicky, dilly, and creamy! Make these up for a backyard picnic or toss them in the cooler for a beach day! These are perfect to make when you have an abundance of veggies from the garden you need to use up!

What is Tzatziki sauce?

Tzatziki, also known as cacık, is a sauce found in the cuisines of Southeastern Europe and West Asia. This sauce is typically featured on gyros and in other Greek inspired dishes. It’s so flavorful, I could not imagine having a gyro without it! I mean, I think it would be pretty boring!? This will also work as a delicious dip! The herbs, lemon, and creamy texture bring everything to life!

The modern form of tzatziki most of us are familiar with is said to have evolved during the Ottoman Empire. Tzatziki is typically made with Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and fresh herbs – sometimes featuring lemon juice or olive oil. In this recipe I used sour cream, which can be used as a substitute for Greek yogurt, since they are both creamy and tangy! I felt like the fresh basil brought a fun twist as well!

What ingredients do I need for this veggie wrap with basil tzatziki?

Tortillas
Cucumber
Sugar Snap Peas
Sour Cream
Mayo
Dill
Lemon Juice
Basil
Garlic
Salt
Black Pepper
Crushed Red Pepper

Equipment Needed:

How do I make it?

Get out a cutting board and a sharp knife and prepare all of your ingredients. Mince the garlic, mince the herbs, juice your lemon, and measure out all of the seasonings.

To make the basil tzatziki:

In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except the cucumber and peapods. Whisk until mixture is creamy and the herbs and seasonings are well incorporated.

To make the veggie wrap:

Spread the Basil Tzatziki around the tortilla with a rubber spatula.

Next, layer on the peas and cucumber.

Garnish with additional herbs if desired, wrap it up burrito style, slice in half, and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Swap the veggies out for anything similar if you’d like! Use grape tomato or sweet peppers!
  • I didn’t have Greek yogurt on hand, so I used a sour cream. Feel free to use either! You can also grate the cucumber directly into the sauce for more of a traditional Tzatziki feel!
  • I used a crinkle cutter for my cucumber which I thought was a fun, extra touch!
  • This is a great vegetarian wrap but feel free to add some chopped cooked chicken or gyro meat if you’d like to!
