Garden Club

A garden club that's been cut in half and being held to show the inside

Last updated on January 6th, 2026

I have been on a serious sandwich kick lately! My family loves them and they’re super easy to make! Whip this sandwich up for a quick lunch! This Garden Club is packed with all the good stuff! And that garlic aioli? It’s the perfect sauce to take this club over the top! Pack this bad boy up and take it with you to work, the beach, wherever you’re headed! This sandwich would also be a great way to use up leftover Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey!

Did you know?

The early versions of clubs featured just one layer. They were usually made with chicken, bacon, lettuce, and tomato on a toasted bread! By the 20th century, turkey started to replace chicken because it was cheaper, diners loved saving the money, and people usually had a ton of leftover turkey – especially after the holidays!

What ingredients do I need to make this garden club?

Italian Loaf
Bacon
Avocado
Tomato
Spinach
Red Onion
Turkey Breast
Provolone Cheese
Salt
Black Pepper

What ingredients do I need for the garlic aioli?

Garlic
Lemon
Mayo
Dijon
Chili Powder
Salt

How do I make it?

Bake Italian bread loaf according to instructions. In a small bowl whisk all aioli ingredients together, cover and refrigerate until ready to use. When your bread loaf is done baking, assemble the sandwich!

Spread the chilled aioli on both sides of bread, be generous! On the top half, lay out the spinach, then the tomato in a nice line, salt and pepper the tomatoes, layer on the onion rings. Next, break the bacon slices in half and lay those out on the bottom of the sandwich in a nice even layer. Then lay the turkey over the bacon, provolone, and finally fan the avocado over it, another dash of salt and pepper, and that’s it! Put your Garden Club together, cut into thirds and dig in!

Tips:

  • You can use any type of meat you want on this sandwich! Ham or chicken breast would be delicious too! Some shredded rotisserie chicken would also rock!
  • You can use any type of bread as well! Toss on any veggies your heart desires or make it a veggie club and skip the meat all together!
  • For a spicy spin, add some cayenne pepper into the aioli mix! You could also check out my Chipotle Aioli recipe!
