Hot Wings

Hot wings on a white plate with blue cheese dressing in a dish next to it

Last updated on January 8th, 2026

My husband and I love wings, and we love spicy food! These Hot Wings were so good, we completely devoured them all, leaving a measly 2 wings to store in the fridge for “later”, aka – when we needed a little somethin’ somethin’ long after we should’ve already been in bed. We just COULDN’T stop eating them! We set a couple aside for our boys before mixing them in the sauce – so this could still be a family friendly recipe! My homemade blue cheese dressing just really takes these wings over the top! It’s the perfect relief for the spice! And using the air fryer makes this so easy! Whether you’re hosting guys night, game day, or the season finale of American Idol – you’re probably gonna want some wings to complete your snack spread!

What ingredients do I need to make these?

To make the wings:

Chicken Wings
Garlic
Italian Seasoning
Paprika
Onion Powder
Garlic Powder
Salt
Black Pepper

To make the buffalo sauce:

Hot Sauce
Butter
Black Pepper

To make the blue cheese dressing:

Mayo
Blue Cheese
Sour Cream
Lemon
Green Onion
Garlic Powder
Salt
Black Pepper

For serving:

Green Onion

How do I make them?

To make the hot wings:

Rinse chicken wings well and pat until dry. Place all wing ingredients in a medium sized bowl and using your hands, mix really well until wings are completely covered. Cover and refrigerate for an hour.

Preheat air fryer for a few minutes at 400 F. Air fry marinated wings for several minutes, working in batches, and flipping halfway through with a tong.

To keep the wings warm:

Line a baking sheet with foil, then place a rack over the baking sheet. Place cooked wings in the oven at 175 F to keep warm. The rack will stop the wings from getting soggy. While those are staying warm, make your blue cheese dressing.

To make the blue cheese dressing:

Add all dressing ingredients to a medium sized bowl, mashing up the blue cheese chunks a bit until you get to a creamier consistency.

Cover and refrigerate the dressing until ready to use.

To make the buffalo sauce:

Add all sauce ingredients to a large bowl and whisk until combined. Toss cooked wings in the sauce, but not until just before eating them! This maintains the crispy skin!

Serve Hot Wings with green onions and chilled blue cheese dressing! Enjoy!
