Homemade Ranch

Homemade ranch in a small glass jar with a spoonful of it in front of it and a big salad behind

Last updated on January 8th, 2026

Picture this – you’re about to plate up the most delicious veggie spread for your kids and…you don’t have any ranch! Ranch is one of the only ways I can get my son to eat raw veggies! Ranch is also delicious on salads, with chicken nuggets, fries, cheese curds! This Homemade Ranch took minimal time to make, and it was so yummy! Just the flavor of a freshly made ranch?! It’s creamy, tangy, and salty! Delicious!

Why make your own ranch?

This ranch is really easy to make and extremely flavorful! There’s just nothing like a homemade sauce, especially a homemade ranch! Most of the ingredients you likely already have on hand!

Did you know?

Ranch is really difficult to find in the UK! I found this so interesting! The reason why is because British palates tend to favor lighter dressings like vinaigrettes. Ranch is a heavier sauce and less familiar to UK consumers! So, while it’s not impossible to find this scrumptious sauce in the UK, it’s extremely difficult! Pretty wild stuff!

What ingredients do I need for this?

Mayo
Sour Cream
Lemon Juice
White Vinegar
Milk
Salt
Onion Powder
Dill
Parsley
Garlic Powder
Black Pepper

How do I make it?

Add all ingredients to a large bowl and mix well to combine. Refrigerate homemade ranch for 30 minutes to an hour for best flavor! I like to wait the full hour!

Enjoy!

Tips:

  • I didn’t have any buttermilk, but if you do you can just omit the lemon juice and milk from the recipe and use the buttermilk instead!
  • Homemade Ranch will keep for 3-5 days if refrigerated in an airtight container!
