Clementine Bourbon Refresher
Last updated on January 24th, 2026
I love a good cocktail! This Clementine Bourbon Refresher was a new and unique way to use bourbon! You really get those flavors from the clementine, the hint of cherry, and of course that smoky bourbon flavor! This was really simple to make but the flavor profile is anything but! This is a drink to make for some friends when you want to impress them with your bartending skills! This drink made me feel exactly how I’d want to feel sitting out on my deck on a cool summer night! Relaxed and happy!

Did you know?
The very first clementine tree was discovered by a monk in the late 1800’s! It was growing in the garden of an Algerian monastery! These little fruits are sweeter than most oranges and are sort of like a hybrid between sweet orange and mandarin oranges! Isn’t that neat!?
What ingredients do I need?
For the simple syrup:
Sugar
Water
For the clementine bourbon refresher:
Clementines
Bourbon
Grenadine
Simple Syrup
Ground Cinnamon
Ice
How do I make it?
To make the simple syrup:
In a small saucepan, heat sugar and water on medium heat. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool completely before storing in the refrigerator.
To make the clementine bourbon refresher:
In a large bowl, add clementines, grenadine, and simple syrup. Muddle the ingredients, getting as much of that juice out as you can. Grab a small bowl and a strainer. Pour and strain the juices into the bowl, pushing down on the clementines with a wooden spoon to work out any of that extra juice. Discard muddled fruit.
Fill two short glasses with ice, divide the clementine juice between the two glasses, then top with bourbon. Garnish Clementine Bourbon Refresher with clementine wedges and a dash of cinnamon! Enjoy!
Tips:
- This recipe will make two drinks. You can always double or triple it for a group!
- Basic simple syrup will keep for about 3 months if stored in an airtight container in the fridge. Don’t forget to label and date!
- These are pretty strong! Adjust the bourbon content as you see fit!
- A little water can help to “open up” the bourbon flavor, so don’t worry about your drink getting watered down. In this case, this is great!
- If you’re not a bourbon fan, consider making this drink with a traditional whiskey or spiced rum instead!
